Adam Lawyer denies Melanie Marquez's abuse allegations, calls claims 'baseless'

Melanie Marquez's husband, Adam "Randy" Lawyer, denied the allegations of abuse made against him by the former beauty queen.

On Tuesday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the King of Talk read the statement from Lawyer's counsel sent to the program via email.

"Our client, Mr. Adam Lawyer, categorically denies with strongest terms the allegations thrown against him. Ms. Melanie has always been engaged in ostentatiously accusing Mr. Lawyer of abuse, but all of which were found to be baseless or unfounded by the proper forum. This is nothing but an act of harassment suffered by our client; an act of defamation on the part of Ms. Melanie," Atty. Jecko G. Bello said.

In a statement co-signed by Attorneys Mitzell Arthur R. Magdaong and Isabel Perfetua P. Doctolero, the team said Melanie has a "notorious history" of making claims against Lawyer.

"Ms. Marquez has a notorious history of hurling ostentatious, fabricated claims of abuse at Mr. Lawyer—every single one previously investigated and dismissed as baseless and unfounded by the appropriate authority/ies and forum/a," the statement said.

According to them, the case that Melanie referenced in her interview, which she had previously filed against him, was dismissed by the Office of the City Prosecutor of Makati and never proceeded to the court of law.

"This latest stunt is nothing short of malicious harassment, designed to inflict severe reputational damage, emotional distress, and professional harm on our client… Mr. Lawyer will address the particularities of the Ms. Marquez's accusations against him before the Bureau of Immigration, the proper forum."

On Monday, Melanie appeared on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" and said that she is seeking the cancellation of her husband's visa and his blacklisting over alleged abuse.

She claimed that these measures were necessary to protect herself and others, citing past incidents of mistreatment.

Melanie married Randy in 2000. They have two children: Abraham and Adam.

Melanie also has four kids from previous relationships: Michelle Dee, Maxine, Mazen, and Manuelito. —Carby Rose Basina/MGP, GMA Integrated News
