Katy Perry's rep slams Ruby Rose's sexual assault allegations vs. the pop star
Katy Perry's rep has slammed Ruby Rose's claims of sexual assault against the pop star, saying they are "categorically false" and "are dangerous reckless lies."
"Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named," the statement added, which Variety ran.
Earlier, Ruby Rose, popularly known from "Batgirl" and "Orange is the New Black," accused Katy Perry of sexual assault.
On Threads, Rose responded to Complex Magazine's coverage of Katy Perry's comment about Justin Bieber's Coachella performance, saying "Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a shit what she thinks."
Responding to fans on the same social channel, Rose said the incident took place when she was in her 20s.
"I’m now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly. Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me," Rose said.
In a further fan engagement that Complex caught and reported on, Rose detailed what happened, saying Perry "saw me 'resting' on my best friend's lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vommited on her."
In another response, Rose said she actually told the story publicly "but changed it to be a 'funny little drunk story' because I didn’t know how else to handle it."
"Later she agreed to help me get my US visa. So I kept it a secret. But I DID tell yall she wasn’t a good person. Instead I got attacked by.. everyone," Rose added.
Replying to a netizen, the Australian actress said she tells herself before opening up "about something incredibly raw and traumatic" that she doesn't need people to believe her and that she only needs to get it out of her body.
"Before I open up about something incredibly raw and traumatic, I tell myself “it’s ok, you don’t need people to believe you, you just need to get it out of your poor body, before it gives you cancer. But then I see this post and … tears consume me, in a good way. Thank you," her full reply read.
In further posts on Threads, Rose thanked the "brave women who have come forward with their stories of sexual abuse."
"For years I have been too wounded and afraid to take the appropriate steps because I know the system seldom works," she said.
Rose also said she will be going to the police "to see if any of my experiences can be investigated. I imagine they are past their statute of limitations, but all the more reason to try," she said.
"I have a long list, it will probably take more out of me than I’m prepared for, but I will come back here to update others on the process, as soon as I am ready," Rose said. — LA, GMA News
