Sam Verzosa on losing in 2025 elections: 'Siguro baguhan lang tayo'
Sam Verzosa said he did not feel down after losing in the 2025 elections when he ran for mayor of Manila.
On Monday's episode of "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda," the businessman and politician said he felt more for his supporters.
"Mas nasaktan ako para dun sa mga taong umaasa sa 'kin. Nung nakita ko 'yung mga taong nag-iiyakan, the people that believed in me, mas dun ako naapektuhan," he said.
"Pero sa akin Tito Boy sabi ko nga, ano ba naman 'yung nawala sa 'kin, I'm still young, I can do a lot of things more," he added. "If I didn't win, sometimes it's redirection, sometimes it's a blessing, now I can do other things."
Sam finished the mayoral race in third place behind Isko Moreno and Honey Lacuna, who both previously served as Manila mayor.
Asked why he thought he lost, Sam said he is still new in politics.
"Siguro baguhan lang tayo Tito Boy, 'yung mga kalaban natin are veterans, they were there for more than 20 years, mga family of politicians," he said. "I came from nothing. I was independent, wala akong partido, walang sumuporta sa akin, tao lang, wala akong slate."
"Maraming kulang Tito Boy, resources. And I did things ethically pa. And when you do things ethically, sometimes mahihirapan ka talagang manalo."
Despite the loss, Sam said he came a better person.
"Sometimes it's not what you get nga, it's who you become," he said.
Sam previously as congressman from 2022 to 2025. He was the representative of Tutok To Win party-list. —MGP, GMA News
