Lexi Gonzales explains why she defended ex-BF Gil Cuerva after viral video issue

Lexi Gonzales was one of the people who defended her ex-boyfriend Gil Cuerva when he was involved in a viral video issue.

On Tuesday's episode of "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the Sparkle star said she spoke up for him because of the time they spent together.

"He was a great guy, and I know him as a great guy. And ayoko lang na jina-judge siya because of one particular thing," she said.

Lexi also revealed that Gil reached out to her and thanked her for what she did.

Tito Boy commended Lexi for being brave for speaking up and defending Gil even though they were not together anymore.

Lexi did not divulge why he and Gil broke up "for his peace also."

However, she did say that they are friends.

"We're OK," Lexi said, adding that this is the first time she is friends with an ex.

Lexi also has this message for Gil.

"Keep on growing. I know you're doing well," she said.

In her 2022 recap, Lexi called Gil her "plot twist." Gil confirmed their relationship in a "Fast Talk" appearance in February 2023.

The two first met when Lexi guested on "Taste Buddies," which Gil hosted with Solenn Heussaff.

In March, Gil issued a statement to address the viral video of him, saying that it was recorded without his knowledge or consent during a private moment.

"The use of a hidden camera and the distribution of that recording are serious violations of my privacy and constitute a crime," he said.

Lexi came to his defense with a post on Threads.

"Regardless of what happened between us, people shouldn't be trying to ruin a person's integrity by spreading malicious and illegal content about them. Mahiya naman kayo. You guys should have some dignity [and] respect," she said. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
