Dolly Parton died after a "brief battle with cancer," People Magazine reports.

The type of cancer was not specified but the magazine said they received the confirmation from Dolly's representatives through a statement.

"After bravely facing a brief battle with cancer, Dolly departed her Earthly life today at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center surrounded by loved ones,” People quoted the statement as saying.

In a separate report, People said the beloved "Jolene" singer was admitted to the hospital four days before her death.

According to TMZ, Dolly was dealing with kidney and autoimmune issues.

Dolly died on August 25. She was 80.

Following the news, notable personalities including former US president Barack Obama, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdami, Jack White, Jane Fonda, and Eminem paid tribute to Dolly.
