Sheena Halili keeps heart guarded after breakup with Rocco Nacino

Kapuso actress Sheena Halili has taken on her first mother role in the upcoming Kapuso soap, “Binoy Henyo.”

The StarStruck alumna had no qualms accepting the project despite portraying a mother at only 26 years old.

“Young pa ba ako?” Sheena pointed out in an interview with the press during a pictorial last July 5, Friday, at the Amoranto Auditorium in Quezon City.

Other actresses her age would refuse to undertake the role, and Sheena said she perfectly understands why.

“So, 'yun. Siyempre, yes ako dun!

“Maganda 'yung story, wholesome 'yung show, and maraming matututunan 'yung bata [at] mga nanay din. Family-oriented din 'yung show.”

Cast with Sheena in this tearjerker is GMA-7’s latest talent, six-year-old David Remo, who plays a kid genius. Sheena will meanwhile portray the illiterate mother of David’s character.

The actress talked about her role. “May anak akong genius, pero ang nanay niya is grade two lang ang natapos.

Despite her character’s flaws, Sheena sees her as a strong woman who will do whatever it takes to protect her child.

Tapping into the emotions of a mother

Admittedly, Sheena knows that she has much to work on considering she is not a mother in real life.

“Nahirapan ako!” remarked the actress, who added that she would constantly check with “Binoy Henyo” director Albert Langitan if she was doing the scene right.

'Yun 'yung ako ngayon, e,” relayed Sheen who now sees the deeper emotions involved in her character compared to her previous one in the defunct Kapuso epicserye, “Indio.”

Her mother serves as her “peg” for her character.

'Family, friends, me'

Sheena’s personal life does not take a back seat despite the all-out effort she puts in her latest project.

The actress comes home every weekend to her family in Pampanga and makes sure she sees her friends weekly.

Sheena relayed, “Sinisigurado ko talaga every week...

"Okay na sa akin 'yung hindi every day 'yung work, alam mo 'yun?

“Siyempre, gusto ko rin naman kung okay.

“Pero ako, sa natutunan ko, ten years na rin naman ako dito [sa shownbiz], hindi ako 'yung sobrang famous na artista, pero pag na-experience ko naman 'yung work dito—ligo, work... alam mo 'yung sasakyan mo 'yung bahay mo?

“Mauubos ka talaga, e!”

Having experienced the exhaustion from work before, Sheena now keeps a well-balanced schedule—one that allows her to spend quality time with the people who matter to her and most especially, herself.

“'Yung mga special occasion and 'yung mga taong importante sa akin, ayokong mawala 'yung time ko sa kanila.

“Sisiguraduhin ko na may ‘family day’ ako and may ‘friends day’ ako, and may ‘me day’ ako!”

It is only necessary, Sheena said.

Dating

Has dating guys taken a back seat, too?

“Wala pa ako ide-date, e!” confirmed Sheena, who said she would however adjust her schedule should a decent guy come along.

“Wow, nag-isip na talaga?” she laughed off.

“Siyempre, kung meron naman, why not? Pero ngayon, lumalabas man ako, [with] friends, grupo.

“Walang date na kaming dalawa lang.”

Guarded heart

It has only been four months since Sheena’s breakup with Kapuso hunk Rocco Nacino was reported.

In her March 1 interview, Sheena refused to talk about the specific reason behind the split. The actress pleaded that it was “too personal” to divulge.

Nonetheless, she did mention in the same interview that she and Rocco have their differences.

“May mga bagay na magkaiba kayo. So, iba 'yung gusto ko, iba 'yung values ko—magkaiba talaga,” said Sheena.

Fast forward to her interview last Friday, July 5. The actress clarified that she is not altogether unready to date.

She said that she is not the kind of girl who just goes out with any guy.

Non-showbiz boyfriend

Was she jaded by her previous experience with love?

No, Sheena answered.

Will she opt for a non-showbiz guy this time?

Sheena admitted that in her prayers, she would ask God for a non-showbiz personality, not that there is anything wrong with being in a relationship with one.

“Para sana less 'yung gulo,” she explained.

“Kasi pag artista kayo, 'pag may problema kayo, kasama lahat, e.

Man of God

Sheena defines her “Mr. Right” as a “man of God.”

Sheena said that hopefully she meets "the one" before she turns 30.

Past is past with Rocco Nacino

It was only last July 1 that Sheena bumped into Rocco again.

“Nag-usap na kami! Nagkatrabaho… Monday lang,” eagerly told the actress, who also said they were taping for the gag show Bubble Gang.

In his March 7 article in PEP, Rocco was reported as saying that he was finding the right time to talk things over with Sheena.

When this was brought up, Sheena stated, “Sabi ko naman sa kanya… para sa akin kasi, past is past.

Asked how Rocco took her words, Sheena replied, “Hindi ko na prinoblema 'yun.”

The actress said that for her part, she has always understood Rocco.

“So, siguro, respetuhan lang. Naiintindihan ko.”

The actress admitted she had her faults too and has forgiven Rocco for his mistakes.

She means to treasure the memories of their past relationship, in spite of it all.

“Napasaya rin naman niya ako. Mabait siya. Napakabait na tao,” said Sheena. Pep.ph
