Chito Miranda's lessons from sex video incident

Masayang humarap si Chito Miranda at ang iba pang miyembro ng Parokya Ni Edgar sa press conference ng 20th anniversary album nila, ang Bente, nitong Lunes ng hapon, December 2, sa Universal Records Tower, Quezon Avenue, Quezon City.

Napag-usapan dito ang tungkol sa pinagdaanang kontrobersiya ni Chito at ng girlfriend niyang si Neri Naig dahil sa pagkalat sa Internet ng kanilang private video.

Ipinagpapasalamat daw ni Chito ang matinding suporta at pagmamahal na ibinigay ng mga kaibigan at kamag-anak nila ni Neri sa pagharap sa kontrobersiyang ito.

Saad ni Chito, “Pinaramdam talaga nila na… yung pagmamahal sa amin.

“And I think it served as an inspiration also, as an example also, to be more responsible.

“And honestly, when it comes to the issue... it’s not even an issue, e.

“Only the people who like making an issue, make it an issue.

“But for us, we just brush it off and move on to the ano…”

Maging ang mga tagahanga raw ng Parokya Ni Edgar ay patuloy pa rin ang suporta sa kabila ng kinaharap na isyu ni Chito.

Paliwanag ng 37-year-old band vocalist, “Because the fans of music, they don’t care about showbiz issues.”

Ang mga kabanda ni Chito sa Parokya Ni Egdar ay ganun din ang suporta sa kanila.

Bukod kay Chito, ang iba pang miyembro ng Parokya Ni Edgar ay sina Buwi Meneses, Darius Semaña, Dindin Moreno, at Gab Chee Kee.

Kuwento ni Chito, “Honestly, sa mga kabanda ko, we just laughed at it.

“It’s a serious issue kasi it’s a criminal case, but we try not to take it seriously.

“Kung nakita niyo, it was taken lightly.

“A few days after that, we came up with a TVC for Tanduay.

“Nobody really cared about the issue.”

Dagdag pa ni Chito, “But honestly, the people that surround us, our families, our friends, wala talaga silang pakialam sa issue.”

Hindi na rin daw nila masyadong binibigyan ng pansin ni Neri ang isyung ito, kaya naman idinadaan na lang nila ang lahat sa biro.

Kuwento ng band vocalist, “With Neri, she’s a strong girl.

“She took it hard, but the thing is, when you’re surrounded by people that love you, it makes everything easier, e.

“We just laugh about it.

“It’s not that we don’t take it seriously.

“Wala, e, that’s how you should handle it e.”

Samantala, tikom muna ang bibig ni Chito nang tanungin tungkol sa paghingi niya ng tulong sa National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) at Department of Justice (DOJ) upang mahanap ang nag-upload ng kanilang private video ni Neri.

Aniya, “Actually, I’m going there [NBI] tomorrow.

“So, I can’t talk about it because it’s a criminal case.”

Samantala, isa naman sa pinakamalaking dagok na kinaharap ng Parokya Ni Edgar ay ang pagpanaw ng kanilang long-time manager na si Richard Tan.

Namatay noong June 3, 2012 si Richard dahil sa sakit na meningitis.

Kung sakaling nabubuhay pa raw ang kanilang manager, malamang ay hindi rin nito bibigyang-pansin ang kinakaharap na kontrobersiya ni Chito.

Saad ni Chito, “Si Richard, ever since, malaking support talaga siya sa band, e.

“Not only with a controversy, but for everything that I have a question when it comes to the band.

“He’s a separate brain, e, for me.

“Same as Richard, I don’t think he’d care much about that.

“He’d be more into what the band should do when it comes to our careers or how to handle things.”

Malaki raw ang respeto ni Chito sa kanilang yumaong manager at marami siyang natutunan dito.

“The good thing about Richard is, he lets us handle our own plans.

“He’s a business manager na… ang maganda kasi sa kanya, isa siya sa mga authoritative figures na nire-respect talaga namin, e.

“We’re a bunch of spoiled brats. We act like barbarians when we’re together kasi barkada kami, e.

“Pero pag sinabi niya na ‘be here on time,’ we respect him enough na we really try our best on [time].

“So, yun yung work ethic na training namin.”

Dagdag pa ni Chito, “And, I think, even if wala na si Chard, I think makikita niya na we still do kung ano yung itinuro niya sa amin.
