Betong on comedy: ‘Pag nagpapatawa ka, siyempre natural, 'wag masyadong effort'

Albert Sumaya Jr., better known as Betong, is known for his notable impersonations and hilarious facial reactions. It’s safe to say that he’s naturally funny.
 
The comedian admitted that making people laugh is innate in him, because he comes from a family of comical people.

“Nakakatuwa dahil yung family ko, medyo komedyante din [so] nakakatulong siya [sa] pagpapatawa ko,” he said.
 
Because he grew up in a fun environment, he realized that it shouldn’t take much from someone to make people laugh.

“Kailangan ‘pag nagpapatawa ka, siyempre natural, 'wag masyadong effort kasi mararamdaman mo 'yon,” he added.
 
He also noticed among his Bubble Gang co-stars that they’re funny because they’re not afraid to look goofy or wacky no matter how good-looking they are.

“Kailangan isipin mo hindi ka guwapo, hindi ka maganda. Kasi ‘pag inisip mo siya, parang nalilimita [ka eh]. ‘Ay maganda ako, hindi ako puwedeng batukan o buhusan ng kung ano man,’” he advised.
 
Being the funny man that he is, he noted how that isn’t difficult for him to internalize at all.

“Although sa akin naman, hindi naman kailangan isipin na guwapo ako kasi malayo sa reyalidad, so nakakatulong 'yon,” he commented. -- Mary Louise Ligunas, GMANetwork.com
