Singer and Siquijor Vice Governor Dingdong Avanzado revealed that he is considering to run for Congress in the 2016 elections.

In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) today, August 12, Dingdong admitted that he is being eyed to be part of Liberal Party’s senatorial slate in the May 2016 national elections.

“I’m a bona fide member of the Liberal Party. We support the ‘Daang Matuwid’ principle.

“I was one of the people they were considering to be part of the line-up sa Senate.

“Sabi ko lang, I’m not really on that level yet. I’m not prepared for that.

“But maybe someday, if the opportunity presents itself, why not?

“As long as I know na ito ay ginagawa ko na tama ang frame of mind ko kung bakit ko gustong tumakbo.

“Na alam ko na mas may magagawa ako.

“Pero sa akin ngayon, ang importante para sa akin, tuluy-tuloy yung reporma papunta sa ‘Daang Matuwid.’”

Given a chance, the singer-turned-public servant maintained that he’d rather run as a representative for Siquijor.

“I cannot say with finality, kasi alam mo naman now, until yung filing [of candidacy in October], maraming puwedeng mangyari.

“But I’m leaning towards that. If I have the choice, I’d like to pursue that,” Dingdong added. --
