AlDub-inspired song included in Ogie Alcasid's new album, 'Ikaw Ang Buhay Ko'

Singer/songwriter Ogie Alcasid just released a new album under Universal Records Philippines titled "Ikaw Ang Buhay Ko."

The 48-year-old TV personality-musician recently shared interesting trivia about making the 10-track album.

During the press launch held in Quezon City, the music icon narrated how he was inspired to write a song while watching a Kalyeserye episode of Eat Bulaga!

His original track titled 'I Love You' is inspired by Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza's love team popularly known as AlDub.

Ogie recalled the scene on Eat Bulaga's 'Kalyeserye' segment where Alden paid a visit to Divina (Maine Mendoza) at the mansion of Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola). This scene inspired him to write the song.

Ogie said, 'This was when yung nagkita na sila e, umakyat [ng ligaw] siya [Alden] sa bahay nila [Divina], ang tagal na 'to e. I think the whole country went nuts 'di ba?

Lahat nanonood sa bahay, sigaw kami ng sigaw. And si Alden kasi keeps singing 'God Gave Me You' so sabi ko, 'Parang kailanga pa niya ng iba pang kanta.''

He continued, 'Maybe something direct, so I said, 'I Love You.' E, yun pala meron silang songwriting contest, e hindi naman nila ako pinasali. Then... they liked it, GMA liked it. Wala lang, they just liked it but they didn't get it. So I recorded it, eto na yun.

'I don't really write in English a lot, tingin ko hindi ako masyado komportable sa English. Kaya lang parang yung kuwento nila, parang dapat English 'di ba? I don't know, hindi ko alam kung bakit naging English yun.' -- For the full story, visit PEP.
