Angelu de Leon returns to TV after Bell's Palsy attack

Four months after getting Bell's Palsy, actress Angelu de Leon is set to return to television.

She will appear in the upcoming episode of Wish Ko Lang this Saturday, March 25.

Angelu disclosed through a Facebook message sent to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) on March 22 that she will portray Helen, a former SPED (special education) teacher who chose to teach men in prison.

She wrote, "I play the role of Teacher Helen, isa siyang SPED teacher that opted to teach sa kulungan.

"Because naniniwala siya na lahat ng tao, lalo na yung mga nasa kulungan, ay may karapatan na makapagsimula ng bagong buhay ano man ang situation nila. Pati mga preso ay may pag-asa sa maayos na buhay."

The 37-year-old actress also posted on Instagram some behind-the-scenes photos of her taping last Saturday, March 18.

She wrote in the caption, "Pack up. Thank you very much to everyone kanina sa taping. A little bit rusty with the lines but nevertheless everything went well with a little bit of patience and grace.

"Please watch Wish Ko Lang NEXT Saturday, March 25 late afternoon on GMA.

"To all the teachers, MABUHAY kayo! Salamat sa lahat ng sakripisyo ninyo at sa pagiging pangalawang magulang namin. Mahal namin kayo! God bless you. #teacher #SoliDeoGloria #workworkwork #taping #WishKoLang"

Aside from Angelu, the Wish Ko Lang episode also features One Up member Yasser Mata.

It may be recalled that Angelu had a Bell's Palsy attack in November 2016. Since then, she has not been active in doing TV shows. The Kapuso actress revealed that she previously got an attack in 2009.

Last March 15, the former TGIS star had a guest appearance in Eat Bulaga with her daughter Nicole. They played during the noontime show's Pinoy Henyo segment.

Angelu's last teleserye appearance was a short supporting role in the telefantasya Encantadia, while her last full-length TV series was the afternoon drama Buena Familia aired from 2015-2016.

Angelu played the lead role in Wish Ko Lang's 10th anniversary special way back in 2012. Back then, she was cast as a woman who was fond of doing facial enhancements, causing her to have a deformity in her face.-- For more of showbiz news, visit PEP.ph
