No new Miss Universe in 2014 as pageant moved to January

The board of the Miss Universe pageant have decided to postpone this year's competition to January 25, 2015.

In a release posted on the pageant's official website, business mogul Donald Trump and Miss Universe president Paula Shugart announced the change of date, but did not give a reason for the move.

Last year's Miss Universe pageant was held in November, while the 2012 edition was held in December.

The 63rd annual Miss Universe pageant will be held in Doral, Miami, Florida.

"In its 11 years of being an established city, Doral has become internationally recognized for its outstanding commercial and industrial accomplishments. Doral is a symbol of success and holding the Miss Universe pageant here will amplify its reputation as a world showcase city," Trump said.

Since 1960, the Miss Universe pageant has been held in the Greater Miami area for 15 times, more than any other host city in the world.

2013 Miss Universe Gabriela Isler from Venezuela is expected to crown her successor at the conclusion of the pageant.
