British actor Patrick Macnee of 'The Avengers' TV series, dies at 93
British actor Patrick Macnee, most well-known for his starring role as the umbrella-wielding secret agent John Steed in "The Avengers" television series in the 1960s and 1970s, died Thursday at the age of 93, his personal website reported, citing Macnee's son, Rupert.
Macnee “died a natural death”, the website said. He was with his family at his home in California when he passed away.
The actor's website also said, “(d)onations in Patrick’s honour may be made to the Actors Fund, www.actorsfund.org.”
“The Avengers” can be viewed online on Hulu.com. A movie remake of "The Avengers" came out in 1998, starring Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman.

Macnee was also with the 1980s “Battlestar Galactica” TV series as the opening credit announcer and as Count Iblis and the Imperious Leader.
Macnee co-starred with Diana Rigg, who played the role of Mrs. Peel. Rigg is on the cast of the immensely popular “Game of Thrones” series on HBO as Oelenna Tyrell. — ELR, GMA News
