American pop star Katy Perry joins the “Fight Unfair” advocacy by the United Nations Children's Fund which aims to save the children of the world from the harmful effects of climate change, among other global issues like poverty and hunger, violence and trafficking, migrant and refugee crisis, and more.
In a video by the United Nations program, Perry highlights the different devastating effects of man-made climate change, and how children are the first to suffer from its impact.
According to the celebrity UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, “Today, we're seeing more extreme weather everywhere, and as a California girl, I'm not the only one experience drought.”
“Over the Pacific, in the Philippines, we've seen more devastating tropical cyclone patterns emerging, while further west, in Bangladesh, millions of children and families have lost their homes to flooding. It's always children who are first to suffer from its impact. Over in East Africa, climate is helping spread mosquitoes and malaria which already kills 800 children every day,” she added.
She admits that the conditions are bound to worsen, but by supporting UNICEF's campaign to “Fight Unfair,” the future's 'weather forecast' might just change for the young generation.
Joining Katy Perry as “Fight Unfair” Ambassadors are Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson, Sir Roger Moore, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Priyanka Chopra, Novak Djokovic, and Angelique Kidjo. —Bianca Rose Dabu/AT, GMA News
