Jackie Chan nearly drowns while filming latest action movie

Chinese action star Jackie Chan is famous for performing his own stunts, but one of his most recent stunts during the filming of "Vanguard" almost went too far as he nearly drowned.

According to a report on Chinese news site China.org.cn, Chan found himself trapped under a rock while filming a jet ski scene.

The 65-year old actor said that during the predicament, he told himself "Jackie, don't panic!" as the crew rushed to rescue him.

He added, "When I took a shower later that night and remembered the incident, I suddenly felt really scared and started shaking. I was thinking about how I could have so easily died."

"Vanguard" Hong Kong director Stanley Tong, with whom Chan had collaborated with since the 1990s, said he cried when Chan was finally rescued.

"When I saw Jackie saved and when he emerged out of the water, I just could not hold back my tears," said Tong.

Chan rarely uses body doubles or CGI special effects even when he does jumps from tall buildings. Because of this, he has suffered numerous injuries, from fracturing his skull to dislocating his shoulder and pelvis.

His newest action film, "Vanguard", is about a group of security guards who rescue hostages kidnapped by an international mercenary organization.

The film is set to be released at the beginning of China's 7-day traditional Lunar New Year holiday season,  January 25, 2020. — Kaela Malig/DVM, GMA News
