Broadway actor Aaron Tveit tests positive for COVID-19
Broadway actor Aaron Tveit has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
On his Instagram, he shared he's been in quarantine since Broadway shows shut down in March 12 and that he's "feeling much better." He says he just got tested and his results confirmed he has contracted the virus.
"I consider myself extremely lucky that my symptoms have been very mild - cold like with no fever - as so many are experiencing much more serious symptoms, because this is a very dangerous virus," he wrote. "One thing I have been experiencing is the loss of taste and smell, which I think is a big sign for people who are otherwise asymptotic."
He also assured he's been taking the situation "extremely seriously," even before he got tested.
"I want everyone to realize that this can affect anyone. And even if you aren’t feeling sick or showing drastic symptoms - please take heed, stay safe, stay healthy and I hope to see everyone at the theater again soon," he added.
Tveit is known for his roles in Broadway musicals "Catch Me If You Can," "Next to Normal," "Wicked," and "Hairspray."
He is the latest high-profile actor to confirm positive for COVID-19. Tom Hanks and Idris Elba were among the first to announce that they contracted the virus, followed by "Game of Thrones actor Kristofer Hivju and "Money Heist" actress Itziar Ituño.
