Gary V raises over P2M during Saturday's online benefit show

Gary V. raised P2,468,143 during Saturday's Facebook live show, "Gary V: Hopeful."

The first of a two-night series had Mr. Pure Energy singing his greatest hits for more than two hours — complete with his signature dance moves.

"Gary V: Hopeful" is for the benefit of Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines and Shining Light Foundation "to support front liners' and essential workers' needs as well as feeding programs for those who have lost the means to support themselves during this lockdown," Gary V wrote in a Facebook post.

"This online concert is my way of thanking fans, friends, and supporters and it is a tribute to the unsung heroes of the COVID-19 pandemic," Gary V added.

If you missed Saturday's show — there were so many good online shows on Saturday night, weren't there? — there's going to be another round tonight at 8:30pm Manila time.

Artists have been holding online shows since Luzon was placed under enhanced community quarantine last March 17. Ryan Cayabyab spearheaded the "Bayanihan Musikahan," a marathon FB show featuring a myriad of artists. When Lea Salonga performed, she raised a whopping P1.8M for COVID-19 frontliners. — LA, GMA News
