'Terrace House' cancels latest season following Hana Kimura's death

Japanese reality TV show "Terrace House" cancelled its latest season following the death of cast member Hana Kimura.

"We would like to express our sincere condolences for the death of Hana Kimura, who appeared on the program. We also deeply mourn the bereaved families," it said on its website.

"Regarding 'TERRACE HOUSE TOKYO 2019-2020,' we have decided to cancel the production. We take this issue very seriously and would like to continue to earnestly respond to it," it added.

"Terrace House: Tokyo 2019–2020" was the fifth season of the show. It premiered on Netflix Japan on May 14, 2019 but went on hiatus due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Kimura, a professional wrestler, died at the age of 22.

Cyberbullying has been cited as a possible cause of Kimura's apparent suicide.

Her last Instagram post had read "I love you, have a long, happy life. I’m sorry."
