'Star Wars' actor John Boyega cries while speaking in Black Lives Matter protest in London
George Floyd's death sparked outrage not just in the United States but many cities around the world.
"Star Wars" actor John Boyega joined the Black Lives Matter protest in Hyde Park, London, where he made a rousing speech, as captured by Evening Standard.
"We have always been important. We have always meant something. We have always succeeded, regardless. And now is the time. I ain't waiting," he told the crowd.
He said that he was born and raised in London, but he and "every black person in here remembers when another person reminded you that you were black."
The actor started crying as he angrily said, "I need you guys to udnerstand how painful this sh*t is. I need you to understand how painful it is to be reminded every day that your race means nothing."
Boyega, who played Finn in the "Star Wars" sequel trilogy, said he doesn't know "if I have a career after this, but f**k that."
Lucasfilm however was quick to back him up.
