YG to introduce new boy group TREASURE in August

Are you guys ready for the "Treasure Effect?"

YG Entertainment, who developed some of K-pop’s biggest acts like Big Bang, 2NE1 and BLACKPINK, is set to introduce a new group called TREASURE on August 7.

The label just announce the release date on social media, along with an exciting new concept trailer.

TREASURE was the most talked-about topic on Twitter on Monday morning, especially since (1) it has been several years since YG Entertainment debuted a group and (2) their debut comes one day before the 2016 debut anniversary of BLACKPINK.

TREASURE was originally formed through YG’s survival show “YG Treasure Box.”

The teaser features 12 members, some of whom have appeared in a series of teasers on their Instagram page.

TREASURE also narrates a meaningful message about making their “first steps” into the world.

“No matter how hard it gets, we will believe in our path, and this will is going to shake the world. We call this the ‘Treasure Effect’.”

Is this the new “Blackpink in your area”? I guess we’ll find out on August 7. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
