Hailee Steinfeld to play Kate Bishop in new Hawkeye series — reports
Hailee Steinfeld is expected to star in “Hawkeye,” an upcoming Disney+ series that follows Jeremy Renner’s character from Marvel’s Avengers.
According to a report by E! News on Thursday, the “Pitch Perfect” star was spotted on-set alongside Renner in New York City, bow in-hand.
Fans took this as confirmation that Steinfeld would be playing Kate Bishop, the daughter of a wealthy family who turns to fighting crime.
According to Collider meanwhile, the comic book character eventually joins the “Young Avengers” and settles on Clint Barton a.k.a. Hawkeye as her mentor.
Renner has also teased Kate Bishop's inclusion in "Hawkeye" on social media, but there had yet to be an official casting confirmation from Marvel.
The actor posted a director's-style chair labeled "Clint Barton" with a caption saying "Ms. Bishop... we need you."
Hailee Steinfeld is an Oscar-nominated actress and singer best known for role in the two “Pitch Perfect" sequels and the Peabody-award-winning series "Dickinson."
She has also starred in the Transformers spin-off “Bumblebee” and voiced the character of Gwen Stacy in “Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.” — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
