Joseph Gordon-Levitt cast as Jiminy Cricket in live-action ‘Pinocchio’ film
A live-action remake of “Pinocchio” is in the works, and the cast reportedly includes Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tom Hanks and Luke Evans.
According to Variety on March 3, Gordon-Levitt is expected to lend his voice to Jiminy Cricket, while Tom Hanks is slated to play the puppet-maker, Gepetto.
Luke Evans, who portrayed Gaston in the 2017 live-action adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast,” is set to play the coachman.
Pinocchio, on the other hand, will be voiced by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth who previously starred in “The Haunting of Bly Manor.”
The cast also includes Keegan-Michael Key as the voice of “Honest John” and Lorraine Bracco as the voice of a new character, “Sofia the Seagull.”
Disney’s original animated film “Pinocchio” (1940) tells the heartwarming tale of a marionette who has to be truthful in order to become a real boy.
According to Variety, the live-action remake directed by Robert Zemeckis (“Forest Gump”) is expected to debut on Disney Plus. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
