Travis Scott to shoulder funeral expenses, refund concert ticket holders

Travis Scott will shoulder the funeral expenses of the eight victims and refund attendees at his concert held Nov. 5.

According to a CNN report, the rapper will also help provide free mental health services to those affected by the tragedy at the Astroworld Festival in Texas.

“These are the first of many steps Travis plans on taking as a part of his personal vow to assist those affected throughout their grieving and recovery process,” said a statement released by a representative for the rapper and producer.

“Travis remains in active conversations with the city of Houston, law enforcement and local first responders to respectfully and appropriately connect with the individuals and families of those involved.”

Concert organizers would also give a refund to ticket holders for the show scheduled on Saturday, which had been canceled.

On Nov.7, Scott issued a statement regarding the disaster and said he was “devastated.”

“I’m absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival,” he wrote on Twitter.

Kylie Jenner, Scott’s partner, also addressed the tragedy, saying they weren’t aware of what was happening.

“I want to make it clear we weren’t aware of any fatalities until the news came out after the show and in no world would have continued filming or performing,” she said.

Eight people died and dozens were injured at Scott’s Astroworld Festival concert.

According to an AFP report, around 50,000 people were in the audience at Houston’s NRG Park when the crowd started pushing toward the stage as Scott was performing, triggering chaotic scenes. – RC, GMA News
