2PM's Chansung announces engagement, pregnancy with longtime girlfriend

Chansung from K-pop group 2PM has announced that he is getting married and about to have a child with his longtime girlfriend.

On Instagram, the South Korean star issued a handwritten letter dedicated to their fans, the HOTTEST, saying that a lot has changed in his 15 years in the industry.

One of these changes is the revelation that he will be building a family with someone special he's been seeing “for a long time."

“This person has been the resting place for my unstable heart and a friend who I can share anything with for a long time, and she became my girlfriend,” he wrote, as translated by Soompi.

“While preparing and planning marriage with this person after my military discharge, the blessing of a new life came to us earlier than expected, and we are planning to get married as early as the beginning of next year,” he added.

Given that his partner is not in the same industry as his, Chansung asked for everyone’s “generous understanding for not revealing her.”

Chansung added that he won’t be renewing his contract with his agency for 15 years, JYP Entertainment.

“The decision was made through communication with my future as the priority, and the company willingly gave blessings for my bright future,” he said.

“The company is my root and like an old friend, and we will always support each other’s growth. My definite path has not been decided yet, but I will share plans that won’t cause concern to fans," he added.

Chansung then promised that he will still “work as hard as [he does] right now in the near future in order to impress as 2PM’s youngest member Chansung and actor Hwang Chansung.”

As of writing, Chansung is the top trending topic on Philippine Twitter with over 10,000 tweets from fans who are congratulating him for the new chapter in his life.

2PM made their long-awaited comeback with “MUST” last June.
