Japanese actress and singer Sayaka Kanda dies at 35

Japanese actress and singer Sayaka Kanda has reportedly died after an apparent fall from her hotel in Sapporo.

According to The Japan Times on Sunday, the 35-year-old artist was found lying in an outdoor space on the 14th floor of the 22-story hotel. She was confirmed dead after being taken to a hospital.

The report said Hokkaido Prefectural Police are investigating the case as a probable suicide but have not ruled out foul play.

The report added that Sayaka was scheduled to perform the leading role in the musical “My Fair Lady” in Sapporo but she “did not show up in time for a daytime performance."

Sayaka Kanda was known for voicing Anna in the Japanese-dubbed version of the Disney movie “Frozen,” as well as Yuna in the popular anime series “Sword Art Online.”
