Academy Award-winning actor William Hurt dies at 71


Academy Award-winning actor William Hurt has reportedly died. He was 71.

Citing Deadline, a People report said the actor died Sunday of natural causes and surrounded by family, a social media statement from his son Will Hurt.

Additionally, the report said, William was previously diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer that spread to the bone.

"It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday. He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes. The family requests privacy at this time," his son wrote.

William won the Academy Award for Best Actor in his lead role in the 1985's Kiss of the Spider Woman. He also earned other nominations for his roles in Children of a Lesser God, Broadcast News, and A History of Violence.

William also appeared in five Marvel films including The Incredible Hulk (2008), Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Black Widow (2021). —JAB, GMA News.
