Paramore releases statement on abuse at concert: 'We would have stopped the show'
Paramore has released a statement to call out the abuse that happened at their recent concert in Salt Lake City, Utah.
While the rock band was performing, a man in the audience physically and verbally assaulted several women and an engaged couple. The band’s security team and venue staff were able to restrain and remove him.
“We did not realize this was happening, as the incident took place out of view from stage. Had we seen this happening, we would have stopped the show until the situation was under control,” the group said.
They added, “Paramore does not condone violence, homophobia, or bigotry of any kind. It is extremely unwelcome in our community and has no place at our shows.”
Paramore then apologized to their fans who were hurt and witnessed what happened.
“We hope that you know we will always do anything we can to protect you and make you feel celebrated.”
The band emphasized that their concerts “are meant to be a safe space for people.”
“If you can’t respect that, do not come," they said.
Paramore is currently on a tour throughout the US. They released their comeback single “This is Why” in September. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA News
