Nikita Dragun arrested in Miami, placed in men's jail unit

Nikita Dragun was arrested in Miami, following a 911 call about a guest at The Goodtime Hotel who was acting disorderly.

According to an affidavit and reported by TIME, the hotel’s security guards told police that she was “causing a disturbance” and “walking around the pool area unclothed.” Nikita was also said to throw water at an employee.

When she returned to her room, Nikita was still causing a disturbance with loud music.

“The police knocked on the door and warned her that she would be escorted off the property. But then, the affidavit continues, Dragun flung an open water bottle toward the officers and the hotel staff, wetting one of the officers,” the report said.

Nikita was taken to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and her bail was set at $2,000. She was released after paying the bond and has a court date set for December 7.

Videos went viral following her arrest showed that Nikita, who is transgender, was booked in the male unit. In the affidavit, she was also continually misgendered and male pronouns were used.

A representative for the influencer emailed a statement to TIME.

“The situation with Nikita, who is legally female, being placed in a men’s unit of a Florida jail is extremely disturbing and dangerous. This decision made by the Miami-Dade County Corrections Department directly violates their protocol, which mandates that transgender inmates are classified and housed based on safety needs and gender identity. Nikita has been released and is now safe. Thank you for respecting her privacy during this time,” the statement said.

Nikita is one of the most popular beauty influencers in the world, who rose to fame with makeup videos and openness about her transition. She has a combined 29 million followers across YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok. —Nika Roque/JCB, GMA Integrated News
