Dolly de Leon named Los Angeles Critics Awards best supporting actress


Filipina actress Dolly de Leon was named best supporting performer by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) for her role as toilet manager in "Triangle of Sadness," Variety reported.

The US-based magazine noted that De Leon, "a newcomer to Hollywood," won over popular actresses including Angela Bassett who was nominated for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and Jessie Buckley for “Women Talking.”

De Leon is also the first Filipino nominated for Golden Globe best supporting actress for the same role.

The other major winners for the Los Angeles Critics Awards are the following:

Best Director: Todd Field, “Tár”

Leading Performances: Cate Blanchett, “Tár” and Bill Nighy, “Living”

Supporting Performances: Dolly De Leon, “Triangle of Sadness” and Ke Huy Quan, “Everything Everywhere All at Once”

Best Screenplay: Todd Field, “Tár”

Best Cinematography: Michal Dymek, “EO”

Best Editing: Blair McClendon, “Aftersun”

Best Production Design: Dylan Cole and Ben Procter, “Avatar: The Way of Water”

Best Music Score: M.M. Keeravani, “RRR”

Best Foreign Language: “EO”

Best Documentary/Non-Fiction Film: “All the Beauty and the Bloodshed”

Best Animation: “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio”

New Generation Award: Davy Chou and Park Ji-Min, “Return to Seoul”

Douglas Edwards Experimental Film Prize: “De Humani Corporis Fabrica”

Career Achievement Award: Claire Denis
