BTS fans asked to refrain from sending gifts, letters to Jin while star is in the military

BIGHIT Music has asked fans to refrain from sending gifts and letters to BTS member Jin while he is serving in the military.

In a statement translated by Soompi, the music label thanks "all the fans who always give their love to BTS" and asked them for their cooperation as Jin fulfills his mandatory service.

Jin is currently undergoing military training with regular military personnel at a training center. Once finished, he will eventually get stationed at a military base.

"If a large number of letters and gifts from the fans arrive at the center all at once, it would be difficult to store them, and they could be easily lost," the statement read.

"We ask that you please refrain from sending anything by mail. BIGHIT MUSIC will assist in making sure that Jin is able to check himself all the warm messages that fans leave on Weverse using the hashtag #Dear_Jin_from_ARMY."

They also ask fans to avoid going to Jin's recruit training graduation to avoid overcrowding.

Jin, 30, shaved his head and entered the military in December. He was sent off by his fellow BTS members RM, Jungkook, J-Hope, Suga, V, and Jimin.

The other members are also expected to enlist in the military in the coming years. The regroup is set to reunite around 2025 after all the members have completed their military service.

South Korea requires male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 to perform military service to help defend against North Korea. In 2020, South Korea passed a bill that allows pop stars who "excel in popular culture and art" to defer military service until the age of 30.

While they're allowed to defer military service until age 30, the law provides no exemption for performers like BTS. The law offers exemptions for classical and traditional musicians, athletes, and ballet and other dancers if they've won prizes in certain competitions and enhance national prestige.

BTS has no. 1 singles in more than 100 countries and was named TIME magazine's Entertainer of the Year in 2020.

With its worldwide success, BTS has boosted the South Korean economy. According to CNBC, BTS generates an estimated $3.9 billion in economic value for South Korea every year. Every. year.

BTS currently has more than 70 million followers on Instagram.

Even though 2023 has just begun, BTS fans surely can't wait for 2025! Good luck, Jin!
