Ellie Goulding shares the story behind her song 'By the End of the Night,' thanks Pinoy fans

Back when the world shut down during the height of the pandemic, singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding wrote a new song, "By the End of the Night."

According to Cata Tibayan's report on "24 Oras," Tuesday, Ellie's inspiration for the tune was an '80s dance vibe.

"The pandemic was so hard on all of us. I think we just wanted to write in a more kind of positive way and make you feel better. I think that was my instinct to want people to feel much better," said Ellie.

The song is part of her latest album, "Higher than Heaven."

"This is, like, a very different era, from 'Brightest Blue [album]' era, which is much more personal and in-depth. I think they're expecting, like, a fun and joyous—an escape type of album where the songs are upbeat," she said.

The singer also looked back on her previous time in the Philippines.

"I remember just the people being so wonderful, the food being great," she said.

"Thank you so much for the support and, you know, I know I have a lot of great fans in the Philippines and get messages from them a lot so, thank you for being you and for being a fan," she added.

She also looks forward to coming back to the Philippines, saying, "Kita kits, Kapuso! Mahal ko kayo!"

Some of Ellie's popular songs include "Love Me Like You Do," "Burn," and "Lights."

Ellie married art dealer Caspar Jopling in August 2019. They welcomed their first child in 2021.
