'The Last of Us,' 'Stranger Things, 'Top Gun: Maverick' lead MTV Movie & TV Awards 2023 nominations
"The Last of Us," "Stranger Things," and "Top Gun: Maverick" lead the 2023 MTV Movie and TV Awards with six nominations each.
Meanwhile, cult-faves HBO's "The White Lotus" and Netflix's "Wednesday" each have four noms each.
As "Top Gun" battles it out against the likes of "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" and "Avatar: The Way of Water" in the Best Movie category, the Best TV Show is looking like it's where it's at, with heavy-hitters "The Last of Us," "Stranger Things," "White Lotus," and "Wednesday" going up against "Yellowjackets," "Yellowstone," and Wolfpack."
Another exciting category to watch for? The Best Duo which has the loveable Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey from "The Last of Us," Simona Tabasco and Beatrice Granno in "The White Lotus," Jenna Ortega and the Thing on "Wednesday", Tom Cruise and Miles Teller on "Top Gun: Maverick" and Camilla Mendes and Maya Hawke on "Do Revenge" going up against each other.
Fan favorites Selena Gomez for "Only Murders in the Building" is nominated for Best Performance in a Show while Ms Flo aka Florence Pugh got a nod in the Best Performance in the Movie for the super controversial "Don't Worry Darling."
Look out for Best Hero, as well where the only female nominee Jenna Ortega ("Wednesday") will go up against hot daddies Diego Luna ("Andor"), Pedro Pascal ("The Last of Us"), Tom Cruise ("Top Gun: Maverick"), and Paul Rudd ("Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania").
There are 26 gender-neutral categories in total, including new categories Best Reality On-Screen Team and Best Kick-Ass Cast.
As always, fans can and should vote for their favorites on MTV.com, until April 17.
