'Avatar: The Last Airbender' Fil-Canadian star Gordon Cormier says 'it's nice to be back home' in PH
Gordon Cormier, a young Filipino-Candian actor who is set to star as Aang in the live-action adaptation of the classic show "Avatar: The Last Airbender," is currently in the Philippines to promote the series.
In a press conference on Wednesday in BGC, Cormier said he's been having a fantastic time in the Philippines so far.
"I'm back in my homeland," he told members of the press. "It's nice to be back home."
The 15-year-old actor said the recent pandemic prevented him from visiting the Philippines as much as he would've liked.
"I haven't been here in a while because of COVID-19, so it's really nice," he said.
"I get to see my family. It's incredible," he added. "You guys are awesome. Shoutout to the Philippines!"
In 2021, Netflix unveiled the cast of the much-anticipated show, naming Cormier as Aang, the show's lead star.
Nearly three years later, "Avatar: The Last Airbender" will premiere on the streaming site on February 22.
It also stars Kiawentiio as Katara, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, and Ian Ousley as Sokka.
"Avatar: The Last Airbender" is a beloved Nickelodeon cartoon that aired from 2005 to 2008.
