My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar dies at 44

Bob Bryar, My Chemical Romance's former drummer, was found dead in his home in Tennessee at 44 years old, media outlets reported on Saturday.

Law enforcement sources told entertainment website TMZ that Bryar was last seen alive on November 4. His body was found on Tuesday, November 26.

CNN also confirmed the news of his death from a spokesperson for the band, who issued a short statement.

"The band asks for your patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob's passing," the spokesperson told CNN.

Investigations on the cause and manner of death are still ongoing, but reportedly, there was no foul play.

Bryar joined My Chemical Romance in 2004. He played drums for the well-known MCR album, “The Black Parade,” which was released in 2006. It includes the songs “Teenagers” and “Welcome to the Black Parade."

He left the group in 2010 but wrote songs for the album, "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys." According to online publication Consequence, he was My Chemical Romance's longest-tenured drummer.

When Bryar left the band, he worked with other groups before moving into a career in real estate.

In 2021, he announced his retirement from drumming on Twitter, citing issues with his wrist, weight, and age, and wanting to pursue something new.
