Lee Joo Sil of 'Squid Game 2' has died
Lee Joo Sil most popularly known for her work in "Squid Game 2" has passed away. She was 80.
According to reports from Korean media, the veteran actress died on Sunday morning, February 2.
The statement of actress' agency, 12340 culture, confirmed the unfortunate news to Soompi with a statement that partly read "approximately three months ago, actress Lee Joo Shil's health declined and she was diagnosed with stomach cancer after an examination from the hospital."
Koreaboo reports she took her last breath "while receiving treatment for her illness."
"Her funeral will be held at the Shinchon Severance Hospital, with visitation open from February 3. The final service is scheduled for February 5," it continued.
Apart from playing Park Mal Soon on "Squid Game 2," the mother of Hwang Jun Ho (Wi Ha Joon), Joo Sil also starred in "Train to Busan."
