NJZ (NewJeans) debuts new song in Hong Kong fest, announces hiatus

NJZ (NewJeans) debuts new song in HongKong fest, announces temporary hiatus

NewJeans aka NJZ performed at ComplexCon in Hong Kong as ADOR announced alright.

Headlining the Sunday show, the embattled South Korean girl group even debuted a new song called "PitStop."

At their six-song performance, the girls read an English statement, saying they've "decided to pause all our activities for now" following the court's decision.

They were pertaining to a South Korean court decision released ahead of their weekend performance, affirming ADOR's status as NewJeans' exclusive agency and prohibiting the group from performing as NJZ and participating in projects without the agency's approval.

Soompi reports that at the HongKong gig, "the group explained that 'this might be our last performance for a little while,' but 'that doesn’t mean we’re going to give up… it’s just us taking a step back to pause.'"

In their statement, NewJeans (or NJZ), admitted "it feels too hard to keep going at this pace, and as strong as we are trying to stay, it has honestly taken a bit of mental and emotional toll on us" and that "coming to Hong Kong and receiving all this love and support from you guys at ComplexCon gave us so much strength."

They ended their statement thanking those who continued to believe and support them. "We can’t express how grateful we are, and we promise, no matter what the circumstances we will meet again soon," they said.

NewJeans (or NJZ) has been embroiled in battle with ADOR and HYBE since late last year after they stood up for their mentor Min Hee Jin and called for her reinstatement as CEO of HYBE's sublabel.

It has resulted in lawsuits, a name change, and as of the weekend, a hiatus.
