Ariana Grande shares 'Wicked' throwback rehearsal video with Cynthia Erivo
Ariana Grande shared a glimpse of what it was like to bring “Popular” to life!
On Instagram, the Glinda actress shared a video with co-star Cynthia Erivo, who plays Elphaba, rehearsing the “Wicked” song. According to Ariana’s caption, the rehearsal happened three years ago, in September 2022.
The two stars sat side by side on a bed. As Ariana sings lines from Glinda’s solo song “Popular,” she wraps a pink sash around Cynthia. She also hilariously pushes Cynthia to lie down on the bed.
“That’s the bit,” Ariana said.
Director Jon M. Chu said, “That is the timing. Locked in.”
This was how the scene ended up in the final cut of “Wicked.”
“Wicked: For Good,” or the second act of “Wicked,” premieres in Philippine cinemas on November 19.
Aside from Cynthia and Ariana, the film stars Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard.
Its soundtrack will feature two new songs by Cynthia and Ariana.
