Who is Xolo Maridueña, the actor who will play 'One Piece's' Ace?
Xolo Maridueña is officially joining the live-action “One Piece” Season 3 series as Portgas D. Ace, the older brother of Luffy.
His character is one of the most anticipated and hottest additions to the series, literally and figuratively.
Known as “Fire Fist Ace” for his flame-based powers, Ace is a fan favorite in the “One Piece” universe, with many fans fiercely protective of how he’s portrayed.
In the manga and anime, he’s also famous for his fiery personality and shirtless look.
Here are five things to know about Xolo.
1. He rose to fame through ‘Cobra Kai’
Xolo rose to fame for his breakout role as Miguel Díaz in Netflix’s hit series "Cobra Kai," which showcased his martial arts skills and charm.
2. He also starred in ‘Blue Beetle’ and will appear in ‘Practical Magic 2’
Xolo made his superhero debut as Jaime Reyes in DC’s “Blue Beetle” (2023) and is set to join the upcoming sequel to “Practical Magic,” expanding his growing filmography.
3. He previously appeared with Iñaki Godoy in ‘One Piece’ featurettes
Before the official announcement, Xolo and Iñaki (who plays Luffy) appeared together in “One Piece” promotional videos, sparking early speculation among fans that he might play Ace.
In 2024, Iñaki visited the set of “Cobra Kai.” He also had a bonding moment with Xolo.
4. He’s already started training for the role
Xolo has begun working out in preparation for the physically demanding role, which is fitting, since Ace is often seen shirtless in the anime.
He is being trained by Corey Calliet, who gave a glimpse of Xolo’s routine on social media.

5. He’s also a podcaster and musician
Outside of acting, Xolo co-hosts the “Lone Lobos” podcast with his “Cobra Kai” co-star Jacob Bertrand, where they discuss pop culture, life, and Latino representation.
He also ventured into music with his debut single “On My Way” featuring Adriana Padilla.
