South Korean actress Nana, her mother sustain injuries in assault by armed robber
South Korean actress Nana and her mother sustained injuries following an assault by an armed robber.
According to a report by Soompi, Guri Police Station arrested a man in his thirties for breaking into Nana's home, threatening her and her mother with a weapon, and demanding money on November 15.
Nana and her mother, who were together in the house at the time, reportedly managed to subdue the armed robber after a physical altercation.
Nana's agency Sublime first reported that the actress and her mother were not seriously harmed in the incident. Hours later, the agency issued an updated statement saying that both had suffered injuries and needed medical attention.
In the statement, Sublime said that the intruder entered the home while brandishing a weapon. During the encounter, Nana's mother was physically assaulted and lost consciousness due to serious injuries. Nana also sustained injuries while attempting to escape the threat.
"The robber entered the home while wielding a weapon, leading to an extremely dangerous situation in which both Nana and her mother could have been critically harmed," the statement read.
"As a result of the robber's physical assault, Nana's mother lost consciousness due to serious injury, and Nana also sustained physical injury while trying to escape danger," it added.
As of now, both have received medical treatment and have been advised to take complete rest as they recover.
Sublime also said that the authorities are now conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.
Due to the ongoing nature of the case, the agency stated that they are unable to disclose further details at this time. Additional updates will be provided in coordination with official police announcements.
The agency said it is cooperating fully with investigative authorities and urged the public to avoid speculation, spreading false information, or intruding on the family's privacy, warning that such actions could cause secondary harm to the victims.
"We will do our utmost to support Nana and her family so they can make a full recovery," the statement concluded.
Nana is known for her roles in the Korean series "The Good Wife," "Kill It" and "Justice," among others. Aside from being an actress, she is also a K-pop idol and a former member of the K-pop group After School. —Jade Veronique Yap/MGP, GMA Integrated News
