MAMA Awards 2025 to push through in Hong Kong despite fire; red carpet cancelled
The MAMA Awards has released a statement regarding this year's ceremony following the deadly fire that devastated Hong Kong earlier this week.
On X, the awards body announced that the red carpet is cancelled, but the main awards ceremony will broadcast live from the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong as planned.
According to Soompi, the MAMA Awards 2025 will add a "Support Hong Kong" message and donate to victims.
"The 2025 MAMA AWARDS believes in the power of music to heal and unite. We are carefully preparing the overall stage composition and proceedings to ensure that it becomes a ceremony that conveys comfort and hope, rather than just dazzling productions," MAMA Awards said.
"We hope that music can bring even a small amount of comfort and courage to everyone’s hearts. The 2025 MAMA AWARDS promises to be a responsible event that does its utmost until the very end."
The MAMA Awards is an annual music awards ceremony first held in South Korea, which mostly awards K-pop artists. In recent years, it has taken place in Osaka, Tokyo, and Los Angeles.
