Isla Fisher pays tribute to Sophie Kinsella: 'I'm so brokenhearted that you are gone'

Isla Fisher is grieving the death of Sophie Kinsella, who penned popular chick lit novels, including the "Shopaholic” series, which was turned into a movie.

“Dear Sophie, you conjured Rebecca Bloomwood, a hilarious flawed dream of a character — and I was lucky enough to step into her shoes and speak your witty and brilliant words,” Isla began.

Saying her daughters are among the readers of Kinsella's books, Isla said "my heart is broken."

“You are still my hero, and I’m grateful for you. And though we won’t meet again, your life and magic lives on in your incredible characters,” Isla said.

In a following post, the actress shared a photo of the movie poster and said "I'm so brokenhearted that you are gone."

Isla played the role of character, the journalist Rebecca Bloomwood, in the romantic comedy film “Confession of a Shopaholic,” which was inspired by the first two installments in the “Shopaholic” series by Kinsella.

Born Madeleine Sophie Wickham, Kinsella died after being diagnosed with brain cancer, her family announced on Wednesday. She was 55.

In 2024, Kinsella said she was receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy for an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Aside from the “Shopaholic” series, her other novels include “The Tennis Party," “The Burnout," and "What Does it Feel Like?"
