‘The Wire’ actor James Ransone dies at 46

James Ransone, an actor known for his role in the crime drama series “The Wire,” has passed away, according to multiple US media outlets. He was 46.

"According to the L.A. County medical examiner’s office, Ransone died by suicide," The Los Angeles Times reported, adding "The Wire" creator David Simon has called Ranson's death as “grievous and awful.”   

TMZ meanwhile said Ransone died on Friday, December 19.

Ransone is survived by his wife, Jamie McPhee, and their two children, CNBC said.

Ransone began his career in show business in the early 2000s. Aside from his breakout role as Ziggy Sobotka in “The Wire,” he also starred in films “Sinister,” “Sinister 2,” and “It: Chapter Two,” to name a few.
