83rd Golden Globe Awards: Behind the scenes, red carpet and backstage highlights
A very preggy Hailee Steinfeld, 29, walked the red carpet at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards and was excited to see us. “How are you?!” She exclaimed.
I congratulated her on her first bundle of joy and then turned to her mother, Cheri Domasin Steinfeld, who was accompanying her and said, “Congratulations! You are going to be a grandma!”
Cheri proudly said, “Thank you!”
The 29-year-old Fil-Am actress, who first earned a Golden Globe nomination for her role in “The Edge of Seventeen” (2016) and is in the Ryan Coogler movie “Sinners,” which won Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award at the 83rd Golden Globes, was a presenter at the awards show.
The blooming Hailee, who is expecting her first child with hubby professional football quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, Josh Allen, was wearing a long-sleeved pink gown that showed her growing baby bump.
George Clooney and Amal Clooney also arrived at “Hollywood’s Party of the Year” holding hands. Fresh from their trip to the Philippines, George gave an enthusiastic "yes, I did!" when we asked him if he had fun in the Philippines.
Then the lovely Amal who was dressed in a stunning form-fitting red gown, turned to me with a smile and said, “Kumusta ka?”
George was not only a presenter but was also a nominee for his role in the Noah Baumbach-helmed movie, “Jay Kelly.”
We unfortunately missed Joel Edgerton, nominated for the movie “Train Dreams” on the red carpet and was hoping to meet his Filipina wife, Christine Centenera, editor-in-chief of Vogue Australia, with whom he has twins.
At one party, Joel told us how they have already visited the Philippines and have enjoyed all the “delicious Filipino food.”
Timothee Chalamet, who has always been preparing for his acceptance speech just in case he won at awards show, finally won his first Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture for the sports comedy drama “Marty Supreme.”
He also thanked his partner, Kylie Jenner, who attended the awards show with him in a body-hugging gold gown and her Lorraine Schwartz 75 carats worth of diamond rings and custom studs.
Also, a first-time Golden Globe winner was Teyana Taylor who won for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her badass role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s award-winning Best Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy, “One Battle After Another.”
Teyana, 35, who has also been making waves on the red carpet, was also a winner on the Golden Globe red carpet in her sexy black cut-out body-hugging gown.
Former Golden Globe co-host Amy Poehler won the inaugural Best Podcast category at the Globes with her debut podcast “Good Hang with Amy Poehler.”
Brazilian actor Wagner Moura became the first Brazilian to win the Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture-Drama for “The Secret Agent” which also won the Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language.
Last year, Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres became the first Brazilian to win Best Actress in a Motion Picture-Drama for the movie “I’m Still Here.”
Another big winner of the night was the “KPop Demon Hunters” animated movie which won Best Motion Picture-Animated and Best Original Song-Motion Picture for “Golden.” The KPop cast and crew danced and celebrated at the after-party and proudly carried around their Golden Globe awards.

Seth Rogen, who created the satirical cringe comedy TV series “The Studio,” with Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory and Frida Perez, won Best Actor – TV Series- Musical or Comedy, while “The Studio” bagged the Best TV Series-Musical or Comedy. It was Seth’s first Golden Globe.
Backstage, Seth mentioned that he was able to get some materials for the show and was able to get future guest actors for the next episodes.
Chloe Zhao, who won Best Director for “Nomadland” in 2021, won again this year for “Hamnet,” the British biographical historical drama that stars Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, the latter winning also Best Actress – Motion Picture-Drama. The movie also won Best Motion Picture-Drama.
The 43-year-old Chinese filmmaker shared an anecdote that Paul Mescal told her previously in the day.
“He said that making ‘Hamnet’ made him realize that the most important thing of being an artist is learning to be vulnerable enough to allow ourselves to be seen for who we are now, who we ought to be, and to give ourselves wholly to the world, even the parts of ourselves that we’re ashamed of, that we’re afraid of, that are imperfect, so the people that we speak to, they can also learn to see themselves and fully accept themselves.
“And then look around this room. There are so many of you that I have known for many, many years, my incredible fellow nominees, and I’m looking at you, Ryan Coogler, I’m looking at you. I see so many of you have become so strong and tender at the same time, and you have shared so much of yourselves in your work to the world, so I salute your bravery, and I salute your dedication. And let’s do this together. Let’s keep our hearts open, and let’s keep seeing each other, and let’s keep allowing ourselves to be seen.” — LA, GMA Integrated News
