Zayn Malik on ex Gigi Hadid: 'I don't know if I was ever in love with her'

Zayn Malik reflected on his past relationship with fashion model Gigi Hadid, with whom he has a daughter with, on the podcast "Call Her Daddy."

Host Alex Cooper brought up an old interview of Zayn saying that he doesn't "know if I've ever truly been in love," and asked if he still stands by that.

The singer answered yes and explained that his understanding of love is "always developing."

"At that moment in time, I might’ve thought it was love, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized maybe it wasn’t. Maybe it was lust, maybe it was this, maybe it was that. I don’t feel like it was love," he said.

Zayn then brought up Gigi, and put it on record that he will always love her because "she's the reason my child is on this Earth."

"And I have the utmost respect for her. I will always love her, but I don’t know if I was ever in love with her," he said.

"I have so much respect for this woman and I do love her, a crazy amount, but no. I don’t think I was in love with her at that point, otherwise I would’ve been a better version of myself," he added.

Zayn and Gigi were first linked in 2015, and had an on-again, off-again relationship until finally breaking up for good in 2021.

They welcomed Khai, their daughter, in 2020. —JCB, GMA Integrated News
