Blackpink's Jennie plans to take legal action against malicious online posts

Blackpink member Jennie is planning to take legal action over malicious posts targeting her on social media.

Her agency, Odd Atelier, released a statement on Monday about their efforts to protect the K-pop idol.

"We have recently identified the continued spread of false information, defamatory content, malicious slander, and groundless speculative posts targeting our artist, Jennie, across online communities and social media platforms," the statement read.

"In particular, we are taking this matter very seriously as there has been an increase in the circulation of false content intended to damage the artist's reputation, as well as acts that infringe upon her privacy, including interference with her personal time and attempts to follow her movements."

The agency said they are reviewing their legal options and monitoring social media platforms to collect evidence. They also ask fans to submit reports and materials that may be relevant.

"We intend to take strong legal action, including civil and criminal proceedings, against any acts that infringe upon the artist's reputation, rights, portrait rights, and other intellectual property rights, depending on the severity of the matter. We clearly state that there will be no leniency or settlements during this process," they said.

In 2024, Odd Atelier released a similar statement announcing that they are pursuing legal action over false impersonations of Jennie's father.

Odd Atelier is Jennie's own label, which she launched in 2023. It manages her activities as a solo artist. Her group, Blackpink, remains under YG Entertainment.
