Heeseung writes letter for Engene: ‘I will prepare hard to meet you again as soon as possible’
Heeseung, formerly from the South Korean boy band Enhypen, wrote a heartfelt letter dedicated to fans, Engene, about this new chapter in his life as an artist.
In a handwritten letter posted on the Enhypen Weverse page, Heeseung said he knows fans are surprised and curious about the sudden news of him leaving the group, so he wanted to talk to them personally.
“For me, six years was a time filled with moments that were overwhelming and precious beyond words,” he wrote in Korean and translated into English by Weverse.
“Thanks to the members who shared countless emotions and the Engene who always filled the vacancy, I was able to approach my dream step by step that I felt I could not reach,” he added.
According to Heeseung, his time with Enhypen will be “one of those shining moments” that he will never forget.
“I don't want to forget those moments, and I want to be the one who continues to support Enhypen more than anyone else,” he said.
Heeseung noted that after sharing his work with the company and after thinking about it for a long time, “I made a big decision to approach Engene in a better way according to the direction the company suggested.”
He added that fans also know he has been working on personal work for a while.
“There were a lot of things I wanted to show, but I also didn't want to put my greed ahead of the team,” he said.
“I am well aware of your concerns and various stories. I will prepare hard to meet you again as soon as possible."
Heeseung also apologized to fans for the surprise and their concern.
“As it was [Engene] that always gave me constant love and affection for me, I feel sorry for knowing the feelings of surprise and concern. I think that's how much you care about me. I will be the one who runs with what Engene have given us so far in mind,” he said.
Heeseung’s departure from Enhypen was announced on Tuesday.
"Through in-depth discussions with each of the members about the future they envision and the direction of the team, it became clear that Heeseung has his own distinct musical vision and we have decided to respect it," Belift Lab, their agency, said in a statement.
Enhypen consists of members Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki. Some of the group's hits include "Bite Me," "No Doubt," "Drunk-Dazed," "XO (Only If You Say Yes)," and more.
They made a music comeback in January 2026.
In March 2025, the boys brought their "Walk the Line" tour to the Philippine Sports Stadium in Bulacan. They were also in the country in December 2024 for their "Des7ined" fan meeting.
