Kathryn Hahn cast as Mother Gothel in 'Tangled' live-action film
It’s official: Kathryn Hahn is Mother Gothel in the live-action adaptation of “Tangled.”
Kathryn herself broke the news in a reel on the “Tangled” Facebook account, revealing her outfit of the day: a black T-shirt with photos of the animated character printed on it and the words “Mother Gothel.”
"Hey, OOTD, just found out what that stands for," she said in the video. “So, here's my outfit of the day: simple jeans, glasses, T-shirt, easy. You know, just another day."
Meanwhile, to fully embrace the character, the actress also updated her Instagram bio to: “Mother knows best,” followed by a mirror emoji.
In January, it was announced that Teagan Croft will play Rapunzel, while Milo Manheim will portray Flynn Rider in the upcoming live-action film.
“Tangled,” the animated musical film, is a retelling of the classic fairytale, “Rapunzel.” It follows Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore), a teenager stuck in her tower, who is curious about how lanterns float in the sky on her birthday. Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi), a thief, helps her escape so she can witness the grand event.
Following the success of the film, Disney released spinoffs such as "Tangled: Ever After," "Tangled: Before Ever After," and the 2017 TV series "Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure."
