'Harry Potter' series drops first official photo, a nod to Quidditch

HBO just dropped the first official photo from its much-awaited "Harry Potter" series and it's a nod to the wizarding sport, Quidditch.

The photo, which was released on social media on Tuesday (Philippine time), shows the young Harry (Dominic McLaughlin) walking on snowy grounds towards what appears to be the Quidditch pitch. He sports his Gryffindor Quidditch robes, with the number "7" and "Potter" on the back.

The flags of Gryffindor and Hufflepuff are also displayed in the background.

An Easter egg comes in the form of a Fred and George banner on the upper-left corner of the photo. What shenanigans are the Weasley twins up to this time?

Potterheads can expect more teasers to drop soon, with the official Harry Potter Instagram account simply writing, "Tomorrow," in its caption alongside a lightning bolt emoji.

The "Harry Potter" series began production at the Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, United Kingdom, last year.

Joining Dominic are Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

The series will also star Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander, John Lithgow as Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Transfiguration professor and Gryffindor head of house Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

Other cast members include Luke Thallon as Defence Against the Dark Arts professor Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as squib and Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch.

The "Harry Potter" series was first announced in 2023, with Francesca Gardiner to write and produce as showrunner. Mark Mylod will direct and produce multiple episodes.

The TV series is an adaptation of the wildly famous "Harry Potter" book series by JK Rowling, which was previously adapted into eight films.
