Lee Pace returns to 'Lord of the Rings' as Thranduil

Lee Pace is reprising his role as Thranduil in the new "The Lord of the Rings" movie!

On Facebook, the American actor shared photos of his character from the franchise as he announced his return to the "The Lord of the Rings: Hunt for Gollum" movie.

"Elveking. What a gift to return to Middle Earth, this character, these extraordinarily creative people….  See you in Mirkwood!" he wrote.

Thranduil is the Elvenking of Mirkwood and the father of Legolas, played by Orlando Bloom in the previous films.

According to Variety, "The Hunt for Gollum" will follow the search for Gollum before the events of "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring."

Aside from Pace, Ian McKellen and Elijah Wood will return as Gandalf and Frodo, respectively.

New cast members include Kate Winslet as Marigol, Leo Woodall as Halvard, and Jamie Dornan as Strider.

The film will premiere on December 17, 2027.
