'The Bear' drops surprise episode ahead of Season 5

Fans of “The Bear” got an unexpected treat as FX released a surprise episode titled “Gary.”

On Instagram, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays Richie, shared the news of the prequel centered on his character and Jon Bernthal’s Mikey.

“COUSINS! PRIMOS! CUGINI!!! Get ready for GARY!!!! We are so excited to finally share this little adventure with Richie and Mikey,” he wrote, adding that the episode is co-written by him and Jon.

“Making this was a dream come true. Thank you to the beautiful people of Gary, Indiana and as always Chicago, Illinois,” Ebon said.

Set before the events of Season 1, “Gary” follows Richie and Mikey on a work trip to Gary, Indiana, offering a closer look at their complicated relationship.

To watch the episode, viewers just need to search “Gary” directly on Hulu — or Disney+ for Philippine viewers where "Gary" is already available for streaming.

The surprise release comes ahead of the show’s highly anticipated fifth season, set to premiere later in 2026.

Created by Christopher Storer and produced by FX Productions, “The Bear” follows fine dining chef Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) who comes home to Chicago to run his family's sandwich shop following the death of his brother.
